Mission Statement

Our mission for the ASES year will see us continue to provide a safe environment that will allow the students at BHMS the opportunity for academic, athletic, artistic, and social growth. We hold our program to the highest of expectations and standards, and will continue to work tirelessly to promote and enhance the students experience at Bernardo Heights.  In addition to the current academic support offered, ASES will continue leading the way and providing the opportunity for students to explore new activities and skills, with well trained individuals and staff available to teach and educate. Our dedication and devotion to providing excellent service to our students and their families is what sets us apart, and it is our mission to open up new avenues for our students that will begin a lifelong journey of possibility and success.

Program requirements:

The State of California and the San Diego County Office of Education have tightened the attendance requirements for all before and after-school programs that are funded through the After-School Education and Safety (ASES) initiative. Since these programs are free of charge we must follow these requirements in order to continue providing programming for our students. We are required to use an automated sign-in/sign-out system which will report attendance directly to SDCOE. Unfortunately students will be dropped from the program if they do not meet the requirements.

Attendance Guidelines are:

Before-School Program: Starting in August 2017, this program will require students to attend on all school days. Priority registration is given to students attending 5 days per week, per the ASES grant guidelines.

After-School Program: This program requires students to attend on all school days. Priority registration is given to students attending 5 days per week, per the ASES grant guidelines.

Program Activities :

Before-School Program: Supervised activities in the Multipurpose Room, Gym, ASES Game Room, and Quad.

After-School Program: Academic support and homework, recreational sports, STEM activities, arts and crafts, computers, electronic and board games, cooking, and much more to come.
